Winter Sculpture Park, Edition III
LUAP exhibits a monumental sculpture in the third edition of Winter Sculpture Park, a public exhibition set across four acres of reclaimed farmland in Bexley, South-East London.
From 18 February to 29 April 2023, LUAP participates in the third edition of Winter Sculpture Park, an ambitious public art exhibition curated by Gallery No.32. Spanning ten weeks and more than four acres of disused agricultural land, the project brings together over 40 artists responding to themes of environment, scale, and public space.
LUAP presents a colossal sculpture that continues his exploration of psychological states, identity, and emotional resilience. Placed directly into the landscape, the work challenges traditional exhibition contexts by meeting its audience in open space — exposed to the elements, yet rooted in stillness.
Winter Sculpture Park is designed as a cultural intervention. It places art directly in the public realm, engaging new audiences and offering free, accessible experiences outside the institutional gallery system. The project reclaims land on a temporary basis to explore new forms of presentation, distribution, and interaction.
“Winter Sculpture Park provokes artistic engagement and response, and provides free, accessible art to all.”
LUAP’s contribution reinforces his ongoing interest in public engagement and large-scale installation. By embedding the work into untamed surroundings, the sculpture invites reflection not only on its symbolic content but on its physical presence — towering, humanised, and quietly defiant in the open cold.
