Pink Bear at Home House

In the summer of 2014, I was introduced to Home House, an eclectic and luxuriously opulent private members club in Portman Square, London. The grandeur of the building completely blew me away. Every room was unique, dressed with art ranging from 18th-century elegance to avant-garde contemporary pieces.

One room in particular stood out — the Gloucester Room in House 21. At the time, large-scale photographs by Martin Schoeller lined the walls. The scale and repetition of the prints made a powerful impact, and a thought immediately hit me: I had to get my Pink Bear in this room. I could already picture it.

I was so excited by the idea that I mentioned it to my friend Aneta, who I happened to be with that evening. As luck would have it, she knew the manager and introduced us on the spot. Over a cocktail or two, we talked about my work. He told me the art at Home House was curated by A Space For Art and suggested I reach out to Charlie, who runs it.

The very next day, I fired off an email. Charlie loved the work. Over the following years, we collaborated on various exhibitions across venues he managed — though not Home House. Still, we kept in touch. Later, Charlie introduced me to Andipa Gallery, which led to my solo show. But Home House remained in the back of my mind.

Now, three years after that first visit, my Pink Bear series finally hangs on the large walls of the Gloucester Room — right above the fireplace. I couldn’t be happier, and thankfully, neither could the team at Home House. It just goes to show, persistence and patience really do pay off.
