Finding Love at Fortnum & Mason
LUAP creates a new mixed-media work for Fortnum & Mason’s “Unleash the Love” campaign, placing the Pink Bear on a path from darkness toward light.
As part of Fortnum & Mason’s 2024 Valentine’s campaign Unleash the Love, LUAP is commissioned to produce a new artwork responding to the theme of love. The result is Finding Light in Darkness, a large-scale mixed-media piece that features in the windows of the Piccadilly flagship store, alongside works by five other contemporary artists.
The work depicts LUAP’s Pink Bear walking through a landscape in transition — moving from a dark, uncertain space toward brightness. Holding a bouquet of flowers, the figure becomes a symbol of gentle resilience and emotional strength, carrying light forward in the face of adversity. The piece is created using paper, acrylic, aerosol, glitter and resin, measuring 168cm x 123cm.
““Navigating the emptiness of the shadows, The Pink Bear carries flowers as a beacon of life, undeterred by life’s adversities, steadfastly walking forward finding light.””
This quote from LUAP captures the emotional heart of the work, which stands as a metaphor for perseverance, kindness, and the shared search for meaning — all expressed through the soft, surreal presence of the Pink Bear.
Exhibited alongside interpretations by other artists, Finding Light in Darkness offered a reflective counterpoint within a campaign designed to celebrate love in all its forms — not just romance, but also self-love, friendship and human connection through creativity.
Through this collaboration, LUAP continued to use his art to spark meaningful conversations — making contemporary work feel accessible, relevant and quietly powerful in one of London’s most historic settings.
