Flourish & Flow in The Hamptons, New York

British artist LUAP presents a new body of work in Flourish and Flow, opening 28 June at Unlimited Earth Care in Bridgehampton. Curated by landscape designer Frederico Azevedo, the exhibition features seven oil and acrylic paintings that expand LUAP’s exploration of psychological space, emotional presence and the recurring figure of the Pink Bear.

The works navigate a terrain between memory and imagination, using lush natural settings to evoke moments of stillness, movement and quiet reflection. In Rowing Toward a Place I Forgot, the Bear moves slowly across a still lake, surrounded by patterned foliage and soft, shifting greens. The painting draws on LUAP’s own childhood memories of time spent on the boating lake — capturing that familiar tension between calm and uncertainty, solitude and safety.

“The oars creak. The water barely moves. Time stretches out,” LUAP writes of the work. “It is peaceful, but uncertain. Something about the stillness makes everything feel louder.”

This sense of emotional layering is present throughout the exhibition. In one piece, the Bear leans against a tree beside a swirling stream. In another, it gazes through a veil of foliage into its own reflection. Each painting suggests a pause — a moment caught between control and surrender, where past and present, dream and reality quietly overlap.

A recurring element in LUAP’s practice is the presence of pattern — most notably in the backgrounds, where wallpaper-like textures echo the shape of weeping willows or faded interiors. These motifs, often linked to memory or domestic space, blur the line between real and imagined environments.

Flourish and Flow continues LUAP’s distinctive visual language while deepening its emotional register. At once playful and contemplative, the series invites viewers into a world that is richly painted and quietly felt.

The exhibition is open to the public from 28 June 2025 at Unlimited Earth Care, 2249 Scuttle Hole Road, Bridgehampton, NY.
